The flavour of long ago permeates the air at Arambol. Originally named Harmal, it became Arambol during the Portuguese rule. Legend has it that the victorious Veer Harhar Mahal performed a great fire sacrifice or 'yagna' after he vanquished his enemies, in the 12th century.
Arambol's villagers reflect the warmth that has made Goa a tourist's paradise. It is a quiet, happy and friendly place, popular with visitors. Off the sea shore, the homes of the locals capture the imagination.
